SUPERIOR, Wis. – Saturday marked the second and final day of the 2025 Subway Stinger Classic for the Yellowjacket volleyball team, facing off against a tough Blue Devils team from UW-Stout before taking on bridge-rival St. Scholastica. The 'Jackets would ultimately fall 3-1 to the Blue Devils, who ended the tournament with a perfect 4-0 mark, before bouncing back and winning 3-1 over the Saints.

Match One Notes
- Stout took an early lead in the first until Superior utilized Blue Devil errors to lead 10-9. Katlyn Jones (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer) and Marena Saeger (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) helped aid the Yellowjackets through a back-and-forth battle, and with the help of Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) and Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford), Superior took the first set 25-17.
- The Blue Devils fell behind by four until Superior committed a trio of attacking errors. UW-Stout kept things close throughout the second set and eventually regained control, winning 25-21.
- Superior fell 11-1 in the third and Stout didn't look back. Sydney Smith (Milltown, Wis./Unity) and Savanna Hering (Superior, Wis./Superior) provided some offense late, but it was too late as they fell 25-17.
- UW-Superior fell once again due to a combination of miscues and Blue Devils kills, and after a pair of long rallies, would lose the match 3-1 after a 25-12 fourth set.
- Hohbein led offensively with 12 kills, while Hering garnered a team-high 19 digs. Gabi Schwirtz (Plato, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) added 15 assists throughout the match.

Match Two Notes
- The Yellowjackets turned things around in the final match of the tournament. In their contest with St. Scholastica, they kept things close early in the first until a late five-point rally from Superior. CSS would match that, however, but UWS rallied with a pair of kills from Hohbein to shut the door at 26-24.
- The Saints responded in the second and leveled the match at 1-1. After Superior tied things at 8-8, St. Scholastica crept ahead utilized a five-point rally with four consecutive kills to roll to a 25-22 win.
- Midway through the third round, both teams volleyed the lead as kills from Bader, Hohbein and Chesney Phillipp (Jacksonville, N.C./Holdingford) guided the Superior rally. Down three at 19-16, the Yellowjackets saw Jones log a kill before three Saints miscues gave them the advantage.
- Both teams came inches away from triggering the set point, but both teams traded points until Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool) dished up a service ace before the Saints missed the mark to win 29-27. Â Â
- CSS evened things in the fourth at 9-9 before seven-straight points propelled Superior. They would use this momentum to roll to a 25-17 victory, ending the Stinger Classic with a win and a 3-1 record.
- Hohbein logged 26 kills in the match, setting a new career-high. Claude logged 30 assists while Schwirtz added 24. Hering finished with 28 digs while Jones had 23 and Hohbein 17.
- Superior swung at a .217 clip in the match, including a match-high .286 in the third set.

The Yellowjackets now enter Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action, traveling to Northwestern on Friday. Action inside the Ericksen Center is set for 7 p.m.
