Peterson’s 15 Kills Not Enough in Loss to St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Yellowjacket volleyball team jumped out of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action to take on RV St. Olaf inside the Skoglund Athletic Center on Wednesday. Superior kept things close throughout the match, but the Oles rolled to a 3-0 victory over the 'Jackets.

Match Notes
  • In set number one the 'Jackets were led by Kyndra Peterson (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale) who logged six kills on 13 attacks. After taking a five-point lead at 11-5, the Oles continued to come back and traded points with the 'Jackets until the match was leveled at 20-20.
  • As both teams volleyed points late in the set, Aspen Gentele (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria) and Sydney Smith (Milltown, Wis./Unity) logged kills for Superior, but the home team utilized a pair of Yellowjacket miscues to win 26-24.
  • In set two, both teams fought for the lead early on until the Oles held control throughout the midway point. Superior responded with kills from Kate Jamtgaard (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids), Melissa Hoff (Holmen, Wis./Holmen) and Gentele to come within two points on multiple occasions, but St. Olaf came away with another set win of 26-24.
  • Both the Yellowjackets and Oles fought for the upper hand in the third, as the 'Jackets received kills from Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford), Hoff and Jamtgaard. The Oles utilized a pair of offensive plays and miscues from the Yellowjackets to push ahead to a 25-20 win in the third.
  • Peterson led the 'Jackets with 15 kills, the most of her Yellowjacket career to date. Jamtgaard logged nine kills, while Gentele and Hohbein each had seven.
