SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's soccer team, coming into the season ranked No. 12 in the nation, faced off against a similar opponent Thursday in UW-Eau Claire, the No. 7 ranked team in the land. Both teams faced off in last season's NCAA Sweet Sixteen, and with under a minute remaining in the second overtime session UWEC buried the golden goal to end the Yellowjackets' best season in program history.

The two teams faced off in a regular season match at SCCU Stadium, but the Blugolds held control throughout much of the match, scoring a pair of goals in each half to push past Superior 4-0.

Match Notes
- The Blugolds fired two goals within six minutes of each other, beginning with Noah Malcook's shot that was sent past Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) in the 27th minute of play.
- Caden Vande Hey fired the second Blugold goal, coming at the 32nd minute mark.
- Tavin Ferner logged his first of the season at the 81st minute before an own-goal secured UW-Eau Claire's 4-0 win.
- Sessions started in net before being removed from the match due to injury. Luke Lockman (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) took over and played the final 57 minutes between the posts.
- Joel Thomas (Cardiff, Wales/Islwyn) and Freddy Watson (Wendover, England/Berkshire College of Agriculture) led with three shots apiece, also contributing two-of-three shots on goal for Superior as a whole.

The Yellowjackets return home Wednesday as they play host to Macalester. Action is set to begin at 7 p.m. at SCCU Stadium.
