SAINT CLOUD, Minn. – Friday evening the Yellowjacket women's cross country team commenced the 2025 season, taking part in the Toni. St. Pierre Invite hosted by Saint Benedict. In their first race of the new year the 'Jackets fared well, garnering a team score of 106 and a fourth-place finish.

Race Notes
- The first Yellowjacket finisher on the 5-kilometer course was Simone Stephens (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro), taking fourth place with a time of 19:14.9.
- Lilley Smith (Ironwood, Mich./Ironwood) finished in the top 20 with a 20:38.3 race time, good for 19th place.
- Amelia Olson (Sturgeon Lake, Minn./Moose Lake) ran in her first collegiate race Friday, taking 45th in 21:55.4
- The Superior duo of Scarlett Vanderscheuren (Saginaw, Minn./South Ridge) and Lillianna Jones (Portage, Wis./Portage) followed, taking times of 22:16.5 and 22:19.3, respectively.
- Aubrey Peterson (Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) and Kayela Putnam (Stephenson, Mich./Stephenson) rounded out the Yellowjackets, crossing the line in 22:46.2 and 23:03.3.

The Yellowjackets return to the course Saturday, Sept. 20 where they compete at the St. Olaf Invitational, set for 11 a.m. at the St. Olaf Cross Country Course.
