Women’s Hockey Drops 4-0 Contest to Falcons

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Friday evening the Yellowjacket women's hockey team began its home-and-home series with the No. 1-ranked Falcons of UW-River Falls. Following a scoreless first period, and despite a strong defensive output from the Yellowjackets, the Falcons scored three in the second period and another in the third to secure a 4-0 win inside Wessman Arena.
 
Game Notes
  • Madison Kadrlik scored on the power play at 1:13 in the second period of play. She was assisted by Kaitlyn Ronn and Gracyn Knowles.
  • Under a minute later, MaKenna Aure scored a goal of her own after feeds from Kailey Niccum and Katherine Bell.
  • Kadrlik struck once again the second, this time at 5:52. Bell and Ronn garnered another helper making the score 3-0.
  • The Falcons logged another power play goal in the third. Megan Goodreau took a feed from Sophia Hess and Alexa Niccum to log the final goal of the game at 4-0.
  • Both Ashton Parnell (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) and Addison Fee (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) led with three shots apiece.
  • Anna Scherling (Rogers, Minn./Rogers) won 10 faceoffs on the evening, leading the 'Jackets.
  • Stacy Steiner (Janesville, Wis./Craig) led with four blocked shots, with Taylee Marks (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold) right behind her with three.
  • Jayda Moyer (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea) took the loss in net, making 42 saves on the night.
 
The 'Jackets and Falcons will meet again Saturday inside Hunt Arena, with an opening faceoff time of 2 p.m.
