SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's hockey team began the second portion of their season, playing host to Saint Benedict in a home-and-home series. In the opener both teams struck in the second and third periods to force overtime, but the Bennies buried two shootout goals inside Wessman Arena Friday.

Game Notes
- Following a scoreless first, the Bennies broke the scoring after Presley Kraemer lit the lamp at 6:24.
- Maya Anderson (Cambridge, Minn./Totino-Grace) dispossessed a Bennies defender and sent a centering pass to Ashton Parnell (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti), who sent a shot past CSB's netminder Sam Knutson to level the game at 1-1.
- Saint Benedict struck again at 9:43 in the third, this time on the power play. Merrill Delich was credited with the goal while Skylar Salscheider and Presley Kraemer garnered assists.
- With under a minute to go in the game Parnell passed the puck to Taylee Marks (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold), and from near the right circle she tied things up with a wrist shot at 2-2.
- The overtime session was an interesting one, as Marks nearly walked it off for Superior with a top shelf shot but came inches away from crossing the goal line. From there strong goaltending prevailed in overtime, forcing a shootout.
- Both Camryn Hargreaves and Chloe Lewis gave the Bennies a shootout victory after scoring their attempts, while Knutson thwarted away both Yellowjacket shots.
- Knutson made 23 saves for the Bennies, while Yellowjacket goaltender Aliya Gricius (Winona, Minn./Winona) made 33 stops in her collegiate debut.
- Both Parnell and Emma Kligora (Milton, Wis./Milton) finished the night with double-digit wins in faceoffs.
