ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The Yellowjacket men's basketball team continued their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) competitions as they took on Crown Wednesday. The Polars were victorious over the Yellowjackets, earning a 70-53 win.
Game Notes
- The Polars came out hot against the Yellowjackets, scoring 40 points in the first half.
- Superior remained close with efforts from Gage Braiedy (Mora, Minn./Mora) and Eddie Mittermeyer (Cadott, Wis./McDonnell Central Catholic) early on, but the Polars found their groove and deployed a balanced attack throughout the rest of the contest.
- Evan Bennett (Superior, Wis./Superior) began to heat up midway through the second half and Micah Young (Minneapolis, Minn./Thomas Edison) would follow, but it would be too late as Crown came away with a 70-53 victory.
- The Polars dominated down low scoring as more than half of their points came in the paint.
- Braiedy would lead the Yellowjackets in points with 13 while Bennett followed with 11.Â
- Anthony Knight led the Polars with 26 points while Tyler Smith had 13 rebounds and six assists.
Next up for the Yellowjackets (6-18, 2-9 UMAC) is a home game with Minnesota Morris, their last regular season game of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. inside Mertz Mortorelli Gym.
