SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have announced that Dan Laughlin, former head coach of the Yellowjacket women's hockey team, has been tabbed as the new head coach for the club men's hockey team at the conclusion of a national search.
A native of Minnetonka, Minn., Laughlin returns to Superior after 21 years behind the bench for the Yellowjacket women's program. During his final season in 2023-24, he collected his 300th win as head coach, further solidifying himself as the all-time wins leader among UW-Superior women's hockey coaches.
Laughlin has guided his players to individual accolades during his time behind the bench. He has mentored 12 American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-Americans and over 40 all-conference honorees. Additionally, Laughlin has been named Coach of the Year six times in his career, four in the NCHA (2004, 2007, 2008 and 2012) along with a pair of WIAC awards in 2015 and 2018.
"We are excited to welcome back Coach Laughlin to provide leadership to our club hockey program," director of athletics Nick Bursik said. "His experience and passion for hockey will help guide the continued growth and success of the program. We look forward to the impact he will have both on and off the ice."
Laughlin's first day with the men's club hockey team is Monday, April 20.
