ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's tennis team took on the Scots of Macalester College on Sunday, earning a 5-2 victory.
Match Notes
- In doubles play the 'Jackets won all three matches, beginning with a 6-4 victory for Claudia Curtis (Hartland, Wis./Lake Mills) and Elif Oezen (Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, Germany/Einstein Gymnasium) at the top position.
- Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Emma LaPlante (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) defeated their counterparts 6-2, while Claire Lampi (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Avery Albrecht (Montevideo, Minn./Montevideo) took away a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
- Curtis defeated Isabella Tamburrino 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) at the top singles position, while Oezen won by a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Adel Schneider.
- Jonas earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, while Avery Albrecht (Montevideo, Minn./Montevideo) won 7-5, 6-2 at the fifth spot.
- Lillian Kimber (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) won the opener 7-5 before falling 6-4, and in the tiebreaker, she nearly fell to Isabel Gaytan 1-0 (10-7) at the fourth singles position.
- LaPlante dropped her singles bout 6-3, 6-1 to round out the Yellowjackets.
Superior returns to action Friday for day one of the ITA Midwest Regional this Friday, which will take place at various locations within the greater area of Saint Peter, Minn.
