SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team hosted its first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest Tuesday, taking on Northwestern at SCCU Stadium. UWS maintained possession for most of the first half, but the Eagles struck first. Superior leveled the scoring in the second, but nobody was able to find the back of the net afterwards, as both teams finished with a 1-1 draw.
Match Notes
- The Eagles got on the board in the 30th minute of play, as a corner kick from Naomi Meehan set up Marie Kendall to fire one into the back of the net.
- Superior retaliated with a goal off the foot of Abrianna Madill (Esko, Minn./Esko), her first as a Yellowjacket, after receiving a feed from Claire Loria (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City) at the 50th minute of play to level the match at 1-1.
- Both Madill and Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) led with four shots apiece.
- Cayley Larson made the start in net, making seven saves in a full 90 minute session.
The Yellowjackets will return to action Wednesday, where they host St. Catherine in non-conference play. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at SCCU Stadium in Superior.
