SUPERIOR, Wis. – Wednesday served as a quick turnaround for the Yellowjacket men's soccer team, taking on Martin Luther after emerging victorious over Bethel University Wednesday evening. The 'Jackets scored early and often, staying undefeated in conference play with an 11-0 win.
Match Notes
- Harvey McLoughlin (London, England/Highgate Woods) scored the first goal of the match, as he gained possession and juked a Knights defender to bend a ball into the bottom right corner of the net for an early 1-0 advantage.
- At the 10th minute of action, Seth Davidson (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) drew a turnover towards midfield and traveled down the pitch to send a shot into the bottom left corner of the net, past MLC keeper Nicholas Russ.
- Three minutes past and Superior struck again, as passes from Adam Kaffel (London, England/Barnet School in London) and Davidson set up Valentin Soares (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Equipe) who buried the third goal of the match.
- Soares carded his second of the match after Jay'ce Jones (Torrance, Calif./Palisades Charter) traveled down the field and arced a ball his way for a 4-0 lead.
- Goals five and six came off the foot of Davidson, who completed the hat trick and triggered the Five Goal Free for All, sending fans home with a free scoop of custard from Culver's in Superior.
- At the 54th minute McLoughlin took feeds from Bryce Boldt (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) and Soares for a goal before Soares claimed his second of the night, making the score 8-0.
- Boldt fired one into the back of the net at the 58th minute of play, and after that Jacob Steffes (Chaska, Minn./Chaska) and Cayce Peterson (Hanover, Minn./Buffalo) rounded out the scoring for the Yellowjackets, concluding an offensive onslaught.
- Davidson and Soares completed the hat tricks. Soares added an assist while Davidson logged three helpers on the night.
- UWS logged 59 shots on the evening, 36 of which were on target.
Superior is back home Saturday where they take on Bethany Lutheran. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at SCCU Stadium.
