SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team returned home Sunday to take on UW-Stout Polytechnic on Sunday. The first half featured the Blue Devils controlling the majority of the offense, but neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. In the latter 45 minutes, both squads had scoring chances but were unable to strike, ending the match in a 0-0 draw.
Match Notes
- The 'Jackets had a few scoring opportunities courtesy of Emma Wright (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) throughout the contest, but the Blue Devils defensive efforts kept her and the rest of Superior in check.
- In the second half, Stout nearly struck from point-blank range with nearly 20 minutes remaining in the match but an arrant shot kept the match scoreless.
- Cayley Larson drew the start for Superior, making 10 saves in the match.
- Kristen Silenzi made five saves for the Blue Devils on the day.
- Wright led with three total shots, while Brynn Johnson (South Range, Wis./Superior), Abrianna Madill (Esko, Minn./Esko), and Julia Lindow (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) each had two.
The 'Jackets will be back in action Thursday, hitting the road to face Macalester. Action is set for 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
