Tom Sederquist is in his fifth season as an assistant cross country and track and field coach at UW-Superior in 2023-24.
Sederquist is a 2012 graduate of Concordia (Minn.), having set five track and field records for the Cobbers in 2011, including three in consecutive weeks. He holds the Concordia records for the indoor mile (4:18.10, Jan. 29, 2011), indoor 3,000 meters (8:29.18, Feb. 5, 2011), indoor 5,000 meters (14:34.88, Feb. 12, 2011), indoor distance-medley relay (1,600-meter leg, 4:16, March 12, 2011) and outdoor sprint-medley relay (800-meter leg, 1:55, April 22, 2011).
Sederquist was a two-time NCAA Division III national qualifier in cross country, competing for the Cobbers in the 2010 and 2011 meets in Oshkosh, Wis., and Waverly, Iowa, respectively.
Sederquist boasts 34 career race victories with four coming after graduation for the Lake Effect Athletics Club, which he co-founded in Duluth, Minn. He won the Griak Invitational, St. Olaf Invitational and NDSU Bison Open, all in 2010, capturing the 2011 Masanz Track & Field Classic, as well. He also won the 2021 Whistlestop Half Marathon, was the 2019 Minnesota Mile champion and placed third in the 2022 USA Track and Field Half Marathon Trail Championships.
Sederquist and Lake Effect also represented Minnesota at the club cross country national championship in Tallahassee, Fla., in 2021.
Sederquist, also an extreme sports enthusiast, is an accomplished downhill and water skier.
He is married to his wife Turi and the couple lives in Duluth with their dog Izzy.
