Glen Drexler enters his 17th season as the head coach of the UW-Superior cross country and track and field teams in 2026-27. A longtime assistant coach, this is his 23rd season overall at UWS.

Drexler has made a mark as a recruiter, expanding his team’s rosters to school-record numbers. In turn, he has had a front-row seat as his teams have enjoyed unprecedented success on the course and track. In all, Drexler has led nearly 40 teams or individuals in NCAA championships.

Throughout his time as head coach, Drexler has guided his teams to countless postseason championships. Following the 2025-26 year, he has captured a total of 10 cross country championships, 12 indoor track and field championships and eight outdoor track and field championships across his six teams in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). This features the men's cross country squad claiming five in a row from 2021-25 and 10-straight men's indoor titles. Drexler and his coaching staff have been named UMAC Coaches of the Year on 27 occasions in cross country and both seasons of track and field.

The men’s cross country team claimed its first conference championship in school history in 2016, and for the third straight year, earned its highest-ever finish at the NCAA Regional, placing 11th. Individually, Drexler has helped three runners – Scott Behling, Charles Corbett and Jackson Lindquist  earn All-Region honors and qualify for NCAA championships. Corbett was also named a USTFCCCA All-American in 2015. During his tenure as head coach, Drexler and his student-athletes have become regulars at the NCAA championships, consistently appearing on the national stage.

Academically, Drexler’s teams have achieved exemplary performance, receiving numerous All-Academic awards from the USTFCCCA. The women’s cross country team earned the honor for 11 consecutive seasons from from 2007-17, while the men’s cross country team earned its fifth straight (2013-17).

Drexler began his coaching career at the college level in 2000 at Martin Luther. Previous coaching stops also include the Minnesota Duluth and St. Scholastica. At CSS, Drexler was the co-head coach of the Saints’ club track and field team, the predecessor of what is now their varsity program.

Drexler is USA Track and Field Level 1 certified and has his United States Pole Vault Safety Certification.

Drexler was a pole vaulter at Bemidji State in his college days, graduating with his bachelor’s degree in 1997. A New Ulm, Minn., native, Drexler and his wife Stephanie reside in Proctor, Minn., with their sons Josh and Alex.
