In an up and down game, the last team to score a goal was more likely to win the game.  That last goal was fortunately scored by the Yellowjackets as they came up on top by a score of 3-2.

The Saints set the tone early as they were the first to score.  It was Andrew Jenkins coming up with the shot that hit the back of the net to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.  Erik Trochimchuk assisted on the goal that came in the 18th minute.  The Yellowjackets answered eight minutes later when Alex Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) sent a booming throw in towards Nate Engel (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove).  Engel put the exclamation point on the play to knot the game at a goal a piece.

Jenkins helped give the Saints another lead a minute into the second half when he dished a pass to Joe Watt on the left side of the field.  Watt finished the job on the play when he fired a shot past Matt Elder (New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) high and to the right to make the score 2-1.  Ben Royce (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) lit a fire under the Yellowjackets when he added his tenth goal of the season in the 57th minute to tie the game at two goals a piece.  John Levenick (Champlin, Minn./Champlin) got the helper on Royce's goal.  That did nothing but build momentum for the Yellowjackets in the 70th minute when Brian Chapman (Maple Grove, Minn./) took a picture perfect corner kick.  The kick found its way to the head of Young.  The ball bounced off his head and went into the net to give the Yellowjackets a 3-2 lead and eventual win.

Yellowjacket goalkeeper Elder came up with five saves while Saints goalkeeper Adam Hewitt stopped four shots.

The Yellowjackets (10-6-2, 1-1-1 WIAC) will close out WIAC play on Saturday when they travel to UW-Platteville.  Game time is at 2:30 p.m.
