DULUTH, Minn.—The Yellowjacket softball team was forced to once again adjust its 2012 schedule on Wednesday, as Mother Nature intervened with another rainy day in the Twin Ports.  As a result of a wet Liebaert Field, the Yellowjackets were forced to move their game with Northland College to St. Scholastica's Kenwood Field.  The move also forced the originally scheduled doubeleader with the Lumberjills to be scrapped in favor of a single game.

It's the second time in a week the Yellowjackets moved a game to Kenwood, which is beginning to feel like home away from home.  At least they played like they were in the comforts of home, cruising to a 4-0 non-conference win.

All four of the Yellowjacket runs came in the fifth inning as Kayla Blom (Alborn, Minn./Albrook High School) led off the attack with a double in the gap to right-center field.  Whitney Brugman (Marquette, Mich./Marquette) moved Blom to third on a sacrifice bunt and she scored on a Kayla Anderson (Clayton, Wis./Clayton High School) single to give the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead.

Anderson moved to second base on a Kristen Haider (Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato) sacrifice bunt and later came home on a Taylor VanDamme (Superior, Wis./Superior High School) single to make the score 2-0.  VanDamme moved to second base on the play and later advanced to third base on a Chelsey Jarzin (Superior, Wis./Superior High School) single.  With VanDamme and Jarzin occupying the corners, the Yellowjackets executed a double steal, scoring VanDamme to push the score to 3-0.  The Yellowjackets closed out the scoring when Ashlee Olson (Superior, Wis./Superior High School) drove in Jarzin with a single to make things 4-0.

Amanda Le Bard (Superior, Wis./Superior High School) pitched a complete game for the Yellowjackets, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out seven batters.  Anderson led the Yellowjackets at the plate, going 3-3.

The Yellowjackets (11-17, 4-8 WIAC) will take on UW-Whitewater at Liebaert Field on Saturday, April 28.  First pitch is at 12:00 p.m. and can be viewed live via webcast at www.ifan.tv.
