The College of Wooster 1, Yellowjackets 0
Box Score

The Fighting Scots from The College at Wooster were only able to produce one run. However, that was enough to give them the victory over the Yellowjackets by a score of 1-0.

The College at Wooster's only run came in the sixth inning when Carly Schoenstein led off with a single.  She eventually reached third on a Kasey Fielder fielder's choice and scored on a Paige Goldberg RBI-single to give the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead.

Nicolle Gross (Coleraine, Minn./Greenway) took the pitching loss for the Yellowjackets.  She surrendered one run on six hits while walking three and striking out one.

Ohio Wesleyan University 4, Yellowjackets 1
Box Score

The Yellowjackets struggle against the state of Ohio continued as they fell to Ohio Wesleyan by a score of 4-1.

The women in black and yellow struck first in the third inning when Kelly Carlson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet High School) and Ashley Martin (Superior, Wis./Superior High School) produced back-to-back singles.  This put runners on first and third base, setting up a perfectly executed double steal by the Yellowjackets, which scored Martin to give them a 1-0 lead.

However, a huge four run fifth inning sealed the Yellowjackets' fate.  Erica Bryan led the attack with a single and advanced to second base on a bad throw by the first baseman.  Jessica Gooden and Lauren Elkins followed that up by reaching on errors, this scored Bryan and Gooden to give the Battling Bishops a 2-1 lead.  Gooden eventually scored on a bad throw by the Yellowjackets to extend their lead to 3-1.  The Bishops closed out the scoring when Sarah Flint singled home Brooke Nethers, who walked previously, to make the score 4-1.

Amanda Le Bard (Superior, Wis./Superior High School) took the loss for the Yellowjackets.  She tossed 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs (none earned) while walking none and striking out five.

The Yellowjackets (2-7, 0-0 WIAC) will return to action tomorrow (Mar.18th) in Fort Myers, Fla.  They will take on Hamilton College at 9:00 a.m. and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at 11:00 a.m.
