The ball is starting to find the Yellowjacket bats progressively more and more.  As a result, the Yellowjackets picked up their first conference win, shutting out UW-Platteville 4-0.
 
Ashley Martin (Superior, Wis./Superior High School) led off the first inning with a walk and advanced to second base on a Britnee Blake (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) sacrifice bunt.  After stealing third base, Martin scored on a Whitney Brugman (Marquette, Mich./Marquette) double to give the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead. 
 
The Yellowjackets added three more runs in the sixth inning.  Haley McNeil (Hill City, Minn./Hill City) and Brugman reached base safely for Lindsay Garay (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern High School), who hit a three-run home run to give the Yellowjackets a 4-0 lead. 
 
Nicolle Gross (Coleraine, Minn./Greenway) got the win on the rubber for the Yellowjackets.  She allowed three hits in the complete game effort.

The Yellowjackets put the finishing touches on a sweep in game two, outscoring UW-Platteville 13-6.
 
Garay was clutch for the Yellowjackets once again in the first inning when she doubled home Martin and Elle Niemela (Cokato, Minn./Dassel-Cokato) to give the Yellowjackets a 2-0 lead.  Melissa Clark (Carlton, Minn./Carlton) followed that with a triple that scored McNeil and Garay to extend the Yellowjacket lead to 4-0.  Sally Linzmeier (Valders, Wis./Valders) drove in Clark on a ground out to make the score 5-0. 
 
The Yellowjackets responded on Platteville's two runs in the third inning when Megan Nelson (Carlton, Minn./Carlton) hit a two-run double.  This scored Linzmeier and Clark to make the score 7-2. 
 
After a four run sixth inning for the Pioneers, the Yellowjackets added six runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Niemela drove in the first run of the inning on a single, scoring Gross to make the score 8-2.  Garay followed that with a two-run single to push the Yellowjacket lead to 10-2.  Clark put the finishing touches on the offense with a three-run home run to make the score 13-6. 
 
Gross got the pitching win for the Yellowjackets.  She allowed six runs on 12 hits in the complete game effort. 
 
The Yellowjacket (11-16, 2-8 WIAC) will return to action on Friday (Apr. 22nd) when they travel to UW-La Crosse.  Time of the first pitch is to be determined.
