A pre-season All-American, Linzmeier had three double-doubles last week as the Yellowjackets won three times coming out of the break to improve to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the WIAC. They have now won five games in a row going back to December 10.
On Monday, December 30, Linzmeier scored 10 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and grabbed 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes to help the Yellowjackets win at Northland, 71-45. The following day the Yellowjackets dug themselves a deep hole early, but they dug their way out and took down Twin Ports-rival St. Scholastica 75-63. Linzmeier scored 18 points and went 12-for-12 from the free throw line, and also had 15 rebounds. On Saturday the Yellowjackets, behind Linzmeier's 13 points and 19 rebounds picked up their first conference win of the season, 61-47 over UW-Platteville.
For the week Linzmeier scored 41 points, grabbed 44 rebounds and dished out 12 assists. She also had seven steals.
"What can you say about Sally that hasn't already been said? She's one of the best players in the conference, if not the country. She is passionate about the game of basketball and is driven to succeed and help her team win," Head Coach Don Mulhern said. "She has set a great example for our team with her work ethic and leadership and she is only going to continue to get better."
Linzmeier continues to mark her mark on the UW-Superior record book. This season she has moved into the top 15 in points (867 – 15th) and now sits second in steals (190), just 18 from setting a new school record. She is also nearing the top 15 in rebounds and the top 10 in assists.
The Yellowjackets will be on the road on Wednesday when they travel to UW-La Crosse before returning home to take on UW-Stevens Point at Mertz Mortorelli Gym on Saturday, January 11. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
