ST. PAUL, Minn. (November 6, 2017) –
Emily VerWay,
Mackenzie Dahlin and
Anna Ribich were named to UMAC all-conference teams Monday after stellar seasons, helping the Yellowjackets to a UMAC Tournament berth.
Junior captain VerWay led the Yellowjackets with a first team selection; she averaged 7.64 assists/set, best among Yellowjacket setters, and third in the UMAC with 795 total. VerWay also second on the team in digs/s averaging 2.71 for 282 total, and was tied for first in services aces with 35.
Dahlin and Ribich were selected to the second team All-UMAC team.
Senior libero Dahlin proved to be a defensive asset for the 'Jackets this season, leading the team in digs/s with 4.05, while also being the only Yellowjacket to play in all 110 sets this season. Dahlin was also a force from the service box, tying VerWay with 35 service aces.
Sophomore outside hitter Ribich was the team's go-to hitter in 2017, averaging 2.05 kills/s for 215 on the season. Ribich was also able to get 28 blocks, 23 of which were assisted on.
Senior defensive specialist
Katie Boone was also honored, receiving the UMAC Sportsmanship Award for Superior.
These standouts led Superior to an 18-13 overall record, and an 11-5 UMAC record; their best since joining the UMAC in 2015.
