RIVER FALLS, Wis. (September 8, 2017) – The Yellowjackets placed four runners in the Top 15 at the eight-team UW-River Falls Invitational 8K.
Junior
Evan Walpole (Superior, Wis./Superior) clocked in first for the 'Jackets as he took fifth place with a time 26:20.20, edging out UW-Stout by two milliseconds.
Rand Bieri (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) and
Alex Binfet (Balsam Lake, Wis./Unity) soon finished after running a 26:54.70 and a 27:05.10 placing 11th and 12th. The last runner to make the Top 15 cut was sophomore
Harrison Hirsch (Vadnais Heights, Minn./Mounds View), who ran a 27:30:40.
"I'm proud of our guys." Coach Drexler said. "Walpole ran his fastest 8k ever, and against some really tough regional competition."
The team ran well as a whole, finishing third overall with a total time of 135:56.20 behind UW-Stout in second and Carleton in first.
The Yellowjackets will make a trip to Northfield, Minn. in two weekends to participate in the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday Sept. 16.
