SUPERIOR, Wis.: The Yellowjacket women's basketball team will put the wraps on a successful 2018 by hosting the inaugural Superior Shootout Classic. The two-day event will be this Saturday and Sunday December 29-30 and will feature four teams, four games and a banquet with a keynote speaker.

"I always like having a tournament to play in during the holiday break, and after playing at Wartburg last year I thought we would be able to have an event of our own on campus during a time when there isn't a lot of basketball being played locally," said Yellowjacket Head Coach Zach Otto-Fisher. "We're excited to be hosting this event that is hopefully the start of a great holiday tradition for our program."

In addition to the Yellowjackets, the College of St. Scholastica, Concordia College, and UW-Stout will be taking part. Matchups are already set, as the event will follow a "classic" format rather than that of a traditional tournament. All four games will be played at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

In addition to the games the teams will be treated to a banquet following the contests on Saturday. The keynote speaker at this year's banquet will be Lea B. Olsen (pictured). Olsen, and alumna of the University of Minnesota where she studied journalism, has worked as a game analyst for the Minnesota Lynx and on ESPN's WNBA coverage, as a television sideline reporter for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and a broadcaster for numerous college and high school games.

Olsen is also the founder of Rethink The Win, a resource for athletes, parents, and coaches to rethink the world of youth sports and elite athletics.

"In addition to the games themselves we're thrilled to be bringing Lea to our campus as our keynote speaker. She has such a great message and is a tremendous advocate for women in sports and young athletes," Otto-Fisher said. "Every person in that room is going to take something away from what she says. It will be a great way to close out the first day of the Superior Shootout."

The banquet is open to the public. Attendees can purchase tickets at the door for $25, which includes a meal in addition to listening to the evening's speakers.

3:00 p.m. - UW-Stout vs. UW-Superior

Both UW-Superior games will be carried live locally on 91.3 FM KUWS with Matt Johnson on the call. All four games will be streamed live on the internet through the iFan Sports Network.
