SUPERIOR, Wis. (May 1, 2018) – The Yellowjackets hold the no. 2 seed as they head into Thursday's UMAC Softball Tournament, they will play the University of Northwestern in their first game on May 3 at 12 p.m. in Duluth, Minn.
The Yellowjackets have secured a 12-4 conference record on the season and an 18-16 recorder overall. The Yellowjackets won five of their final six games of the season and also boasted a six-game winning streak earlier in UMAC play. The only team this season to beat the 'Jackets twice was the top-seeded Saints just over a week ago.
Freshman Alayna Tulip (Arcadia, Wis./Arcadia), who leads the 'Jackets in batting a.386 average, and has played in and started all 34 games for UWS. Katie White (Pequot Lakes, Minn./Pequot Lakes) has also been great from the dish, hitting .375 in 96 at-bats, launching three home runs on the season, and leading Superior in RBIs with 26.
The Yellowjackets have been solid on the base paths this season, stealing 21-of-24 bases and hold a .314 batting average with runners in scoring position.
Macy Hanson (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg) returned to the circle for the 'Jackets this season and has been lights out. She currently has 147 strikeouts on the season, a 2.29 ERA, and a 10-7 record in 26 appearances.
Damara Theis (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) is coming off a one-hit shutout victory last week against Northland, she holds a 7-8 record in 21 appearances, and a 5.21 ERA in 87.1 innings.
Heading into Thursday's game, the Yellowjackets hold 9-0 and 5-4 victories over the Eagles, and allowed 12 hits in those two games.

Event Information
The UMAC tournament has the following set admissions prices: Single Day Adult Ticket, $10; Single Day Student/Senior Ticket - $5; Adult Tournament Pass, $15; Student/Senior Tournament Pass, $7. All UMAC students, staff and faculty are FREE with valid institution ID to all games. No other passes will be accepted.
