SAINT, Paul, Minn.: Juniors Henry Seeb (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) and C.J. Pillath (Coleman, Wis./Coleman) led the UW-Superior men's track and field team in a quality showing at the UST Opener, hosted by St. Thomas at the Anderson Athletics and Recreation Center Friday.
 
Seeb outran St. Olaf's Lars Ripley to capture the 3,000 meters by more than four seconds in 9:38.85. His time was just four seconds off his personal best set last season.

Pillath finished in third and fourth in the weight throw and shot put, respectively. He top weight-throw mark of 17.71 meters was just off his personal best of 17.78 meters. Pillath's shot-put mark of 15.07 also threatened his 15.18-meter personal best in the event.
 
Senior Rand Bieri (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) was in the top 10 in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.37 for sixth place.
 
Sophomore Jake Weston (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) ran fifth in the 400 meters in 53.01. He also clocked a 24.21 for seventh in the 200 meters. Junior Matt Carlson (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown) and sophomore Josh Weston (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) were ninth and 10th overall in the 400, as well. They ran 54.78 and 54.81.
 
The Yellowjackets host the Twin Ports Invite at the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse next Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
