AUSTIN, Texas: UW-Superior women's basketball junior guard
Eva Reinertsen (Duluth, Minn./Homeschooled) has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III Third Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Wednesday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America®program separately recognizes men's and women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Reinertsen, who carries a 4.0 GPA as a social work major at UW-Superior, was honored as a Google Cloud Academic All-District®pick in February, allowing her to advance in the balloting for Academic All-America consideration.
Reinertsen is just the second student-athlete in school history to earn the Academic All-America distinction. Sally Linzmeier claimed a second-team honor in 2015.
Reinertsen earned a place on the All-UMAC First Team this season after averaging 14.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She was named UMAC Player of the Week three times. She picked up two double-doubles on the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the season opener against Carthage, adding 25 points and 11 boards versus Northwestern.
Academically, Reinertsen is a two-time selection for the All-UMAC Academic Team as a both a freshman and sophomore.
The 15-woman Google Cloud Academic All-America® women's team has an average GPA of 3.88 with the first team checking in at 3.97. Five of the 15 women have perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Reinertsen helped the Yellowjackets to a fourth consecutive regular-season conference championship in 2018-19. Superior also tallied over 20 wins for the fourth straight year, finishing 24-3 overall.
