ORLANDO, Fla. – The UW-Superior men's tennis team suffered a 8-1 setback against Illinois Tech at the USTA National Campus Tuesday.
The Yellowjackets' only victory of the day came at No. singles. Brady Anderson topped Jack Pio after falling, 6-0, in the first set. Anderson rallied 6-2 and 10-3 to take the match.
The 'Jackets played three tight doubles matches.
Josiah Borst (Becker, Minn./Becker) and
Leonardo Paredes (Uberlandia, Brazil/Colegio Sao Paschoall) fell to Mohammed Shamel and Yousef Abdo at court one, 8-5. Davis Housman and Andrew Woltman beat
Will Sherman (Baton Rouge, La./St. Michael) and
Harry Simpson (Derby, England/Derby Moor Academy), 8-6 at No. 2. Connor Mullane and Brody Croonquist topped
Grady Hauswirth (Farmington, Minn./Farmington Senior) and Anderson, 8-5.
Petar Bulatovic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Lee Academy) played a solid match at No. 5. He fell 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 11-9, to Abhishek Rana.
With the win, Illinois Tech moves to 8-6 on the season while Superior is now 1-6.
