AUSTIN, Texas – UW-Superior women's basketball senior guard Eva Reinertsen (Duluth, Minn./Homeschooled) has been named to the 2019-20 Academic All-America® NCAA Division III women's basketball first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the organization announced Wednesday.

Reinertsen is the first student-athlete in school history to earn first-team recognition as well as the first to be a multiple-time recipient of the honor. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Third Team as a junior. It is just the fifth all-time award for the Yellowjackets and third in women's basketball. UWS all-time leading scorer Sally Linzmeier (Valders, Wis./Valders) earned a spot on the second team in the 2014-15 season. Men's soccer's Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold) was also a second-team selection this fall. Superior baseball standout Braeden Barr (San Diego, Calif./Grossmont) was a third-team pick in 2019.

Since 1952, the award has recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Reinertsen carries a 4.0 grade-point average as a social work major at UW-Superior and is a three-time UMAC Academic All-Conference honoree. She led the team with 17.7 points, 8.1 rebounds per game with a 47.7 field-goal percentage, while tying for the UMAC lead in assists (95) and also tying for second in assists per game (3.5).

Reinertsen was also second in the UMAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1), third in field-goal percentage, fourth in scoring and rebounding and fifth in free-throw percentage (80.2). She posted 11 double-doubles on the season.

A three-time All-UMAC performer and UMAC Rookie of the Year in 2016-17, she surpassed 1,000 career points Dec. 14. She finished her career with 1,323 points and 570 rebounds.

Reinertsen was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Jan. 14 and was also a two-time UMAC Player of the Week (Feb. 3 and Dec. 16) this season.

Reinertsen is one of two repeat selections on the first team this season, joining Yuleska Ramirez-Tejada of Emmanuel. She is also one of four across all three women's teams to boast a 4.0 GPA and one of two on the first team with Katie McShea of Marymount the other.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.

Reinertsen and the Yellowjackets were 18-9 overall and 13-3 in the UMAC in 2019-20, advancing to their seventh consecutive conference championship game.
