SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have released a statement regarding spectators at upcoming Yellowjacket sporting events.
With men's and women's basketball, men's and women's hockey, and men's and women's indoor track and field scheduled to begin their seasons this week, it has been determined spectators will not be permitted at Yellowjacket home sporting events.
"After long and careful consideration, it was determined we would not be allowing spectators for any of our home sporting events for the foreseeable future," said UW-Superior Athletics Director
Nick Bursik. "We completely understand the disappointment the families of our student-athletes and our loyal fans have with this decision, but in order for us to follow Douglas County Public Health guidelines and safely be able to conduct our athletic events in the safest manner possible, we can't allow spectators in our facilities at this time.
"Fortunately, we have a number of resources available for people to follow our home sporting events. Most of our home sporting events will be streamed online through our online partner, the iFan Sports Network. We are also working to have as many of our home games as possible on the radio home for Yellowjacket sports, 91.3 KUWS. And as always, live stats of home contests will also be available."
