EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Superior men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to UW-Eau Claire at the John and Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center Saturday.
The Blugolds started the match by taking all three doubles matches as the pairs of
Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) and
Gergo Potz Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/Veres Pálné Secondary Grammar School) and
Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes (Brasilia, Brazil/Centro de Ensino Médio Paulo Freire) and
Jacob Zacharias (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) hung with their respective opponents on courts one and two, each falling 8-6.
Zacharias won the 'Jackets' only match of the day at No. 4 against UWEC's Ethan Wurtzel in two separate tiebreakers. Zacharias won the first set, 7-6 (11-9), before dropping the second, 2-6. Re bounced back to take third-set breaker, 12-10.
UWS returns home to face Bethany Lutheran in non-conference action Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
