SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior men's tennis team made quick work of Crown in a 9-0 sweep Sunday at the Yellowjackets Outdoor Tennis Complex.
UWS did not drop a single game in coasting to its second UMAC win of the weekend after defeating Bethany Lutheran Saturday.
Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes (Brasilia, Brazil/Centro de Ensino Médio Paulo Freire) and
Miles Dempsey (Golden, Colo./Green Mountain) dispatched Andrew Moorse and Logan Disabella and
Anthony Michels (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie Senior) and
Gavin Mangan (Henderson, Nev./Basic Academy) topped Tim Stariha and Matt Leathers in doubles.
Clayton Tanner (Waseca, Minn./Waseca Senior) and
Preston Vogel (Appleton, Wis./Appleton West) won by default.
Gergo Potz Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/Veres Pálné Secondary Grammar School) beat Moorse at No. 1 singles,
Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) beat Disbella at two and Luiz de Melo Guedes beat Stariha on court three.
Jacob Zacharias (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) beat Jake Nerison at No. 4 and
Lorenzo Korehisa Silva (Sao Paolo, Brazil/Colegio Singular-Santo Andre) beat Leathers at No. 5.
Tanner won his singles match by default, as well.
The Yellowjackets improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the UMAC with the victory and will host Martin Luther Wednesday at 2 p.m.
