SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have announced the hiring of P.J. Piotrowski as the department's head strength and conditioning coach. Piotrowski will oversee the strength and conditioning efforts of more than 300 Yellowjacket student-athletes across 19 varsity sports programs.

Nick Bursik said. "This is a great investment into elevating the performance of our student-athletes and programs, and with Coach Piotrowski's leadership the impact will be significant."

A native of Hastings, Minnesota, Piotrowski comes to UW-Superior after as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato. While with the Mavericks, Piotrowski designed and implemented performance programs that include strength, speed, agility, flexibility and mobility for multiple teams. In addition, he had oversight of the scheduling and organization of the weight room activities, and worked in concert with the head coaches of the various Mankato sports teams as well as with the athletic training staff.

Prior to his time at Mankato, Piotrowski spent two years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Bemidji State University. He also had internships at Boise State University in Idaho where he focused on Olympic sports, as well as Missouri Southern State University.

Piotrowski earned his bachelor of science degree in exercise science with a minor in sports medicine from MSU-Mankato in 2017. This spring, Piotrowski began work on his master of arts degree in sports management, also from MSU-Mankato, with an expected graduation date of December 2022.

Piotrowski, the first-ever full-time strength and conditioning coach at UW-Superior, will begin his duties with Yellowjacket student-athletes July 26.
