SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior men's track and field team hosted the Twin Ports Open at Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse, the first of two home indoor meets of the season, on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets posted five top-two finishes in individual events on the day, including two from sophomore
Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona) in the 60- and 200-meter dashes. Westimayer ran 7.39 in the 60 and 23:53 in the 200. Senior
Tyler Finger (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) also took second place in the 800 meters in a time of 2:01.21.
Sophomore
Earl Foster (Forest Lake, Minn./Spectrum) ran 27:53 in the 200-meter hurdles while freshman
Gage Stankiewicz (Esko, Minn./Esko) was second in the shot put with a mark of 14.54 meters.
In all, UWS achieved nine personal bests in the meet, including two from Stankiewicz, who also fourth in the weight throw with a personal best of 14.44 meters.
Steven Pearson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) finished third in the 200 hurdles in 28.46 behind Foster.
Connor Nelson (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) clocked a third-place time in the 3,000 meters in 9:48.16. Foster also finished third in the high jump with a leap of 1.70 meters.
The Yellowjackets return to action next Friday and Saturday at the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout's Johnson Fieldhouse.
