ROGERS, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's tennis team battled Bethel at the Rogers Tennis Center on Saturday, falling 7-2.

Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) improved to 2-0 on the season at No. 1 singles in dual matches, earning a 6-4, 6-4 victory over the Royals' Erik Beckers.Â

Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes (Brasilia, Brazil/Centro de Ensino Médio Paulo Freire) picked up Superior's other point on the day with pair of tiebreaker wins at No. 3 singles. He topped JacobLukkarila 7-6 (3) and 7-6 (5).

Gergo Potz Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/Veres Pálné Secondary Grammar School) and freshman
Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angels) also played tight matches on courts two and six, respectively. Potz Nagy fell to Jason Reilly, 6-4, 6-4, and Diehl dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Brett Eliason.

The Yellowjackets (0-2) are back in action next Friday and Saturday against Saint Mary's and Loras in Winona, Minn. The 'Jackets and Cardinals square up at 6 p.m. on Friday. UWS and the Duhawks face off Saturday at noon.
