WINONA, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's tennis team earned its second consecutive victory Saturday, defeating Loras, 7-2, at the Winona Tennis Center.
The Yellowjackets opened the match with an 8-5 doubles victory at No. 1 from the pair of
Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes (Brasilia, Brazil/Centro de Ensino Médio Paulo Freire) and
Gergo Potz Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/Veres Pálné Secondary Grammar School), who beat Kevin Blomquist and Thomas Kampmier.
Dominik Hendrickson (Menomonie, Wis. /Menomonie Senior) and
Gus Rasmussen (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) topped Nolan Teubel and Gannon Harrington at No. 3before
Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) and
Keisuke Sato (Fukushima, Japan/Fukushima) closed out doubles with an 8-6 victory over Konnor Barth and Tommy Linkenheld on court two.
Janes then dispatched Blomquist, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles for a 4-0 lead in the match.
Up, 4-1, Luiz de Melo Guedes clinched the victory for UWS with a 7-6, 7-5 win against Kampmier on court two.
Other wins came from Potz Nagy on three 6-2, 6-2 versus Linkenheldand Sato 6-1, 6-4 over Sean Gelski at No. 4.
With the win, Superior improves to 2-2 on the season wile Loras is 1-4 overall.
UWS is back in action March 14 against Roger Williams in Orlando, Fla., at the USTA National Campus.
