ORLANDO, Fla. -- The UW-Superior men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Roger Williams in the its sprig break debut on Tuesday at Lake Cane Tennis Center.
The Yellowjackets, who had their initial flight to Florida on Saturday cancelled due to weather, finally were able to begin their spring trip against the Hawks.
Roger Williams (4-1) won two doubles matches and four on singles courts for the dual-match victory.
UWS (2-3) got a doubles win at No. 2 from
Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) and
Keisuke Sato (Fukushima, Japan/Fukushima) over Arlex Correa and Ryan Schuck, 8-7 (8-6).
Freshman
Jace Gilbertson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie Senior) won over Correa at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4, and senior
Gergo Potz Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/Veres Pálné Secondary Grammar School) beat Matt Glassman at No. 3, 6-3, 6-4.
UWS plays a pair of matches Wednesday against UW-La Crosse and Carthage at 8:30 a.m., and 2 p.m. CT, respectively.
