MINNEAPOLIS – The UW-Superior women's tennis team began its spring season with a 9-0 defeat to Macalester on Saturday at Baseline Tennis Center.
 
Kallie Olson (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) and Grace Nelson (New London, Wis./New London) took four games from their opponent at No. 3 doubles, while Chiyono Owa (Tokyo, Japan/Otsuma Nakano Senior) and Lainey Zurn (Almena, Wis./Barron) won three games at No. 2.
 
Olson battled Macalester's Talia Chait at No. 3 singles, play a tight second set at 6-4. 
 
Nelson was able to take five total games off of Hannah Lundblad at No. 6 singles, falling 6-2, 6-3.
 
UWS (1-2) is back in action against Bethel next Saturday in Rogers, Minn. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
