ORLANDO, Fla. -- The UW-Superior women tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Franciscan and Colby-Sawyer to close its spring trip on Friday at Lake Cane Tennis Center.
Kallie Olson (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) and
Kaytlyn Syverson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) earned the Yellowjackets only point against Franciscan with an 8-3 doubles victory over Haley Davinsizer and Zoey Stapleton court two.
UWS (1-10) nearly pulled out the dual-match victory versus Colby-Sawyer, falling 5-4.
Syverson and Olson again won at No. 2 doubles 8-7.
Superior's three singles victories came in tiebreakers.
Maya Callaway (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) beat Grace Carpenter 12-10 in a third-set breaker after taking the first set, 6-4 and dropping the second 6-1. Owa won on court three over Amira Eid, taking the first set, 6-3 and the tiebreaker 10-6. Zurn endured two tiebreakers to beat Mei Genest 6-2, 7-6, 10-5.
The Yellowjackets return home to open Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play against Martin Luther on March 27 at 1 p.m.
