SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The UW-Superior men's tennis team ran its winning streak to three matches with a 9-0 victory over Martin Luther to open Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play at Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse on Sunday.
The Yellowjackets started the match by taking all three doubles contests.
Gergo Potz Nagy and
Andre Luizde Melo Guedes defeated Josiah Koelpin and Josiah Wordell, 8-0.
Keisuke Sato and
Michael Janesthen topped Elijah Schulz and Silas Steinbrenner, 8-1, at No. 2, and
Jace Gilbertson and
Dominik Hendricksonbeat Brian Friesenegger and Zachary Neumann, 8-3, at No. 3.
UWS (6-4, 1-0 UMAC) dropped a total of seven games in singles action, winning all six matches in straight sets. Janes at No. 1 and Sato at No. 4 dispatched their opponents without losing a game. Potz Nagy beat Schulz on court three by only dropping a single game in the second set.
Luiz de Melo Guedes beat Wordell, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2,
Carter LaMont (Villard, Minn./Minnewaska Area) beat Neumann, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 and Gilbertson beat Steinbrenner, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 5.
The Knights fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the league with the loss.
The same teams meet again Saturday at 1 p.m., in New Ulm, Minn.
