ROGERS, Minn. -- Freshman
Jace Gilbertson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie Senior) won both of his matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles as the UW-Superior men's tennis team pulled out a 5-4 victory over Bethany Lutheran at the Rogers Tennis Club on Friday.
Gilbertson won, 8-5, with partner
Gus Rasmussen (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) over BLC's Caue Ribeiro and Niklas Kasa and 2-6, 6-0, 10-5 against Ribeiro. Other victories came from
Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) in No. 1 singles action (6-2, 4-6, 11-9),
Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes (Brasilia, Brazil/Centro de Ensino Médio Paulo Freire) (6-2, 6-4) at No. 2 singles and
Carter LaMont (Villard, Minn./Minnewaska Area) (7-6, 6-4) at No. 6 singles.
With the dual-match win, the Yellowjackets improve to 10-5 and 4-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, while Bethany Lutheran drops to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the league.
UWS is back in action Saturday against Minnesota Morris at STa Fit in Sartell, Minn. First serve is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
