ROGERS, Minn. -- The UW-Superior tennis team topped Bethany Lutheran, 8-1, on Friday night at Rogers Tennis Club, to improve to 4-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
The Yellowjackets (5-12) took 2-of-3 doubles matches as No. 1
Chiyono Owa (Tokyo, Japan/Otsuma Nakano Senior) and
Megan Dulong (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Senior) won, 8-3, and
Kaytlyn Syverson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) and
Kallie Olson (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) won, 8-4 at No. 3.
In singles, UWS got victories from Callaway at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1, Syverson at No. 2, 6-1, 6-4, Dulong at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2, Owa at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3, Hanson at No. 5 6-0, 6-0, and
Lainey Zurn (Almena, Wis./Barron) at No. 6 by the same score.
The Vikings fell to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in the UMAC.
UWS is back in action Saturday at 11:30 against Minnesota Morris at STa Fit in Sartell, Minn.
