SUPERIOR, Wis. --Â The UW-Superior women's tennis team absorbed its first loss of the season in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with a 7-2 setback at the hands of Northwestern at the Yellowjackets Outdoor Tennis Complex on Wednesday.

UWS (6-13, 5-1 UMAC) earned wins in singles action on courts one and three, respectively.
Maya Callaway (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) defeated Belinda Weddle at No. 1, 6-3, 6-2, and Dulong topped Taylar Smith 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7). Dulong's victory made it 3-1, while the win by Callaway closed to deficit to 4-2.

Chiyono Owa (Tokyo, Japan/Otsuma Nakano Senior) played a pair of tiebreakers in her No. 4 singles matchup with Elli Dodge. Owa took the first set, 7-6 (7-5), and dropped the final two, 6-3, and 1-0 (10-4).

The Yellowjackets are back in action Friday at 4 p.m. against Minnesota Morris at the Yellowjackets Outdoor Tennis Complex.
