SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The UW-Superior women's tennis team closed its home slate with an 8-1 victory over Minnesota Morris Friday at the Yellowjackets Outdoor Tennis Complex.
The Yellowjackets (7-13, 6-1 UMAC) swept doubles and got all five of their wins in singles play in straight sets.
Megan Dulong (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Senior) and
Chiyono Owa (Tokyo, Japan/Otsuma Nakano Senior) beat Kate Obright and Kiley Rodarmel, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles with
Kallie Olson (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) and
Kaytlyn Syverson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) topping BeBe Say and Marybeth Tautges by the same count at No. 3.
Maya Callaway (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) and
Lainey Zurn (Almena, Wis./Barron) beat Megan Arens and Abby Burquest, 8-2 at 2.
Callaway beat Rodarmel, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Dulong beat Arens, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
Owa defeated Burquest, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 singles,
Shelby Hanson (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea Senior) topped Say on court five, 6-2, 6-1, and Zurn beat Tautges, 6-2, 6-3, to seal the match.
Minnesota Morris fell to 5-6 overall and 4-4 in the UMAC with the loss.
UWS heads to Lifetime Athletic Club in White Bear Lake Sunday to take on Northwestern at 4:30 p.m.
