WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. --Â The UW-Superior men's tennis team completed a perfect Upper Midwest Athletic Conference schedule with an 8-1 victory over Northwestern at Lifetime Athletic Club on Sunday.

With the win, the Yellowjackets claimed the UMAC regular-season title outright for the first time in program history. UWS (14-5, 8-0) earned the top seed in the conference tournament and will face fourth-seeded Minnesota Morris in the semifinals Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

On Sunday, Superior swept doubles action, getting victories from Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes andÂ
Gergo Potz Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/Veres Pálné Secondary Grammar School)at No. 1,
Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) and
Keisuke Sato (Fukushima, Japan/Fukushima) at No. 2 and
Gus Rasmussen (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and
Jace Gilbertson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie Senior) at No. 3. Luiz de Melo Guedes and Potz Nagy topped Jack Geurkink and Adam Ryerse, 8-6, Janes and Sato beat Jacob Weddle and Stewart Morrell, 8-3, and Rasmussen and Gilbertso beat Tyrus Studer and Darin Rupp by the same score.

Janes had to battle to prevail over Morrell at No. 1 singles, winning, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (11-9). Luiz de Melo Guedes defeated Ryerse, 6-4, 6-3 on court two and Potz Nagy topped Weddle, 6-1, 6-4, on three.

The Yellowjackets' other two victories came from Sato over Geurkink at No. 4, 7-6 (9-7), 6-1, and Gilbertson against Isaac Velgersdyk at No. 5, 6-3, 7-5.

With the loss, the Eagles' fourth consecutive to UWS, Northwestern drops to 19-6 overall and 6-2 in the UMAC.
