Box Score ST. PETER, Minn. -- The UW-Superior women's tennis team closed its stay at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday, participating in doubles action.
The freshmen pair of
Marina Dostal (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior) and
Courtney Brandt (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Senior) won its opening-round match in the Gustie Invite against the Wartburg tandem of Tori Johnson and Bailey Sinnwell, 6-2, before falling in the second round, 2-6 to Erica Wing and Maddie Buechler of St. Catherine.
In the ITA main draw, freshman
Andreina Tejada (Quito, Ecuador/Isaac Newton) and junior
Haley Quick (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) lost to Maddie Dosser and Ashley Renwick of Saint Mary's, 8-2. Tejada and Quick then fell to Julia Baber and Lauryn Douglas of Bethel, 8-3.
Freshmen
Daylyn Drew (Negaunee, Mich./Negaunee) and
Brooke Wilfong (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) fell to Luther's Jalen Denhartog and Natalie Neff in the Gustie Invite main draw, 6-2, and then 6-0 to Ashley Stroebel and Taylor Ruhl of Gustavus Adolphus in the back draw.
The Yellowjackets will open their dual-match season Saturday, Feb. 4 against Macalester.
