MENOMONIE, Wis. -- Sophomore
Garrett Lynch (Portage, Wis./Portage) set a school record in the heptathlon as the UW-Superior men's track and field team wrapped up the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout's Sports and Fitness Center on Saturday.
Lynch scored 4,171 points, breaking
Nick Donahue's record of 3,801 points from the 2014 season. Lynch finished 10th overall in the heptathlon with a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.00 seconds) and seventh-place finishes in the shot put (11.00 meters), 60-meter dash (7.37), high jump (1.83 meters) and pole vault (3.55 meters). He also finished 15th overall in the long jump (5.70 meters) and 1,000 meters (3:23.57).
Sophomore
Gage Stankiewicz (Esko, Minn./Esko) finished second in the shot put with a heave of 16.01 meters while senior
Nate Ohman (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) was sixth in with a personal record of 14.34 meters. Stankiewicz's mark is currently 10th best in NCAA Division III and is an indoor PR.
Stankiewicz was also fifth in the weight throw of 15.48 meters with Ohman ninth at 14.51 meters.
Junior
Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona) was eighth overall in the 200 meters in 23.24, while sophomore
Iain Matheson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) was ninth in the 400 meters in 54.16.
Elsewhere, junior
Kevin Hufziger (Macedon, N.Y./Penfield) ran seventh in the mile in 5:35.92 for a PR and freshman
Isaac Hanson (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) finished eighth in the pole vault with a vault of 2.90 meters. Hanson also clocked a personal record in the 60 meters at 7.91 seconds for 23rd place overall.
Sophomores
Aidan Doherty (Wild Rose, Wis./Wild Rose) and
Zach Reese (Zimmerman, Minn./Spectrum) finished with PRs in 10th and 11th overall in the 800 meters, clocking 2:06.02 and 2:06.17, respectively.
In the 3,000 meters, sophomore
Michael Butterfield (Bovey, Minn./Greenway) was 23rd in 9:00.99, junior
David Collins (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright) was 31st in 9:15.96 and classmate
Kei Okamoto (Nagoya, Japan/Reitaku Mizunami) was 40th overall in 9:46.07.
The Yellowjackets return to action next Saturday in the Lake Superior Challenge at St. Scholastica. Events begin at 11 a.m.
