MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) released its weekly award winners for the week of Nov. 6-12 in an announcement Tuesday, and senior Yellowjacket goaltender
Rose Beeman (Minneapolis, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's School) was slated as the women's hockey Athlete of the Week.
The Yellowjackets opened conference play last Saturday, traveling to Hobbs Ice Center to face the No. 9 ranked Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire. Receiving the start and playing a full 60 minutes, Beeman faced 40 shots and saved 36, including 25 in the final two periods of play.
Despite Beeman's strong outing in between the pipes, the Yellowjackets would fall to UW-Eau Claire 4-2, as the Blugolds rallied to score three times within the last three minutes of play, including an empty-netter.
UWS remains in WIAC play this weekend with a pair of road contests against Northland. Friday's opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Bay Area Civic Center.
