ROGERS, Minn. -- Bethel defeated the UW-Superior women's team, 9-0, at Rogers Tennis Club on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets (0-2) won three games in doubles and another nine the six singles matches.
Freshmen
Courtney Brandt (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Senior) and
Brooke Wilfong (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) lost, 8-2, to Emma Thole and Rylee Schurman.
Freshman
Daylyn Drew (Negaunee, Mich./Negaunee) put up the best fight at No. 6 singles, taking three games from Bryna Eigenfeld. Drew fell, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore
Lainey Zurn (Almena, Wis./Barron) won a game in each set against Schurman at No. 5.
Haley Quick (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) took two games off of Julia Baber at No. 2, as well.
Bethel improved to 1-1 overall with the victory.
The Yellowjackets return to action next Saturday and Sunday against UW-Stout and St. Norbert, in De Pere, Wis., at 5 a.m. and 8 a.m., respectively.
