Men’s Track and Field Second in Gene Glader Classic, Winning Three Events

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- The UW-Superior men's track and field team posted a second-place team finish in at the Gene Glader Classic, hosted by Bethel, on Saturday.
 
The Yellowjackets scored 103 points in the meet, finishing behind the host Royals (189 points) in the team standings. 
 
Superior won three events on the day. Earl Foster (Forest Lake, Minn./Spectrum) won he 60-meter hurdles in a personal record of 8.70 seconds. David Collins (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright) took the 800-meter run in 2:03.28 and the 4x200-meter relay team of Steven Pearson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), Ethan Bowe (Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser), Iain Matheson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona) won that event in a season best of 1:34.24, leading the UMAC.
 
Matheson finished second in the 200 meters in 23.26, Nate Ohman (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) was second in the shot put with a mark of 14.49 meters and Ben Babcock (Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth Area) was second in the long jump with a mark of 6.08 meters.
 
Garrett Lynch (Portage, Wis./Portage) placed third in the high jump in 1.78 meters, Babcock was fourth in the triple jump in 11.80 meters and Ohman was fifth in the weight throw with a PR of 15.37 meters.
 
Jordan Goldfine (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) was fifth overall in the long jump at 5.92 meters while Pearson finished fifth in the triple jump in 11.59 meters.
 
In all, the Yellowjackets posted five personal records on the day.
 
UWS next gears up for the UMAC indoor championships, which get underway Friday at Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse at 1:30 p.m.
