DE PERE, Wis. -- The UW-Superior women's tennis team won the final four matches in singles play to erase a 4-1 deficit and earn its first dual-match victory of the season Sunday, 5-4 over St. Norbert at Green Bay Tennis Center.

After dropping the first two matches in singles action at Nos. 2 and 1, respectively, the Yellowjackets (1-3) secured victories from freshman
Courtney Brandt (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Senior) over Megan Pankow, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5, and classmate
Brooke Wilfong (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech), 6-2, 4-6, 10-6, against Grace Peters to pull within 4-3 in the match.Â

Sophomore
Lainey Zurn (Almena, Wis./Barron)Â then tied things with a 4-6, 6-4, 11-9Â win at No. 5 versus Alyssa Tegan.

Freshman
Jessi Kukowski (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown) clinched the match with a 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) victory over Grace McCune on court six.

The Green Knights (4-10) jumped out to a 2-1 lead with doubles wins at Nos. 1 and 2. Kukowski and
Shelby Hanson (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea Senior) beat Peters and Anna Krupka, 8-6, in the third doubles match to get UWS on the scoreboard.

St. Norbert's Hannah Starr and Emma Merrill then posted straight-set singles wins over
Haley Quick (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) and
Marina Dostal (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior) on courts two and one to build the advantage.

Next up, Superior opens Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play against Minnesota Morris on Saturday at 2 p.m., in Fargo, N.D., before also facing Concordia (Minn.) at 5:30 p.m.
