MINNEAPOLIS -- The UW-Superior women's tennis team began the 2023 dual-match campaign with a 9-0 loss o Macalester at Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center Saturday.
The Yellowjackets (0-1) took six games in doubles action and 16 in the six singles matches.
Andreaina Tejada lost, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles,
Haley Quick (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) lost 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2,
Brooke Wilfong (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) lost, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, Courtney Bradt lost, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4,
Shelby Hanson (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea Senior) lost, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Lainey Zurn (Almena, Wis./Barron) lost 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.
Tejada and Quick went down 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, Wilfong and Brandt and
Jessi Kukowski (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown) and Hanson lost by the same count at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
UWS returns to action next Saturday against Bethel in Rogers, Minn. First serve is 6 p.m.
